Sharkburz is the fortress within the region of Nurn. It appears in Middle Earth: Shadow of War.

Sharkburz is located on a small island in the Sea of Nurn and is the seat of the orc overlord of the region, and the first fortress conquered by Talion in his war against Sauron.

History[]

Sharkburz was ruled by an overlord who's name is now lost to history before a two headed Olog dubbing himself "The Etten" slayed the overlord and seized control of the region. The two headed troll was feared by his underlings and considered a subject of fable, ruling unopposed through sheer fear of his strength and menace. However, what the Uruks of Nurn did not know was that the two headed Etten was in fact just an Olog known as Ar-Harto aided by his Uruk companion Ratbag the Coward, who posed as the Olog's second head by perching on his shoulder. Ratbag, being the more intelligent of the two but unable to fight or compel Uruks to follow him, managed the region of Nurn from the shadows as the true overlord while Az-Harto kept the Uruks in line with his strength.

After several months of The Etten's rule Sharkburz came under assault by the upstart army of the Gravewalker Talion, who had assembled an assault force to seize the fortress with the help of Bruz the Chopper. However upon breaching the throne room and confronting the overlord, the ruse of The Etten was immediately dispelled when Ratbag, recognizing his old ally Talion, leapt from Az-Harto's shoulder and explained how he came into control of the fortress before submitting to Talion, citing the difficulties of rule being more than he had bargained for.

Some time later the forces of Sauron came to reclaim the fortress from Talion's army but were quickly beaten back by Talion and Bruz's defense. However, while addressing his army in victory from atop the fortress Talion was ruthlessly betrayed by Bruz and stabbed in the back before being cast down from the tower in full view of his army. Bruz then quickly seized control of the island, attracting followers to his side while displacing Talion's warchiefs, and even managed to captured Talion's most loyal follower.

In the aftermath of Bruz's betrayal, Talion was able to rally a force of his surviving followers with Ratbag's assistance and rescue those taken prisoner by Bruz's compatriots. Ratbag then showed Talion a secret way into Sharkburz which Talion exploited with a squad of elite fighters and confronted Bruz within the throne room. After a fierce skirmish, Bruz was sent running from the fort while his captains were slaughtered by Talion's followers, and thus Sharkburz and the surrounding region returned to Talion's control.
