Trolls are enemies in Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor. Trolls are basic, large and unintelligent creatures that inhabit Middle-earth.
There are four types of trolls that may appear in Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor:
- Stone Trolls, trolls that turn into stone when exposed to sunlight, as seen in the Hobbit. One of the more slow witted and clumsy among their species
- Cave Trolls, trolls whose skin is so thick only the sharpest of blades can pierce them. As their name suggests they are generally only found in the deepest, darkest corners of Middle Earth.
- Mountain Trolls, enormously powerful trolls who are capable of breaking stone, they frequent mountain ranges as their name suggests and as such rarely come into contact with humans.
- Olog-Hai, the most cunning of trolls. These trolls were created by Sauron, and can withstand sunlight. The Olog-Hai were the main shock troops used by Sauron during the Siege of Gondor.
- Hill Trolls, little is known of these trolls but Arador, grandfather of Aragorn, was slain in the Coldfells by Hill Trolls.
History
Trolls were created before the First Age by the Dark Lord Melkor. While very strong, they turned to stone in sunlight. After the War of Wrath, Trolls joined Sauron, the last surviving servant of Morgoth. In the Second and Third Age they became the most powerful of Sauron's warriors.
